SEILING WILDCATS
Coach: GARY MANUEL
15-0
OFFENSE
The Wildcats enter this season as the reigning Class B state champions. They had an impressive season on the way to hoisting the trophy, as they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points. And with a new season come big expectations as they try to repeat as champions. Head coach Gary Manuel is excited about the season, and he says he expects one unit of his team to stand out. “We have a lot of experience coming back up front on both sides of the ball,” he said. “The line of scrimmage should be one of our biggest strengths this year.” Anchoring the offensive line will be Jaycub Feuerborn (5-11, 230, Jr.) and Clayton Boyce (5-11, 180, Sr.). Quarterback Blake Chain (5-11, 165, Jr.) is an outstanding athlete that should do a great job of leading the offense. Also in the backfield will be Yovany Durate (5-10, 180, Sr.) at running back. Chain will have a couple of skill guys that he will look to pass that ball to. Jazin Baker (6-1, 185, Jr.) will be at wide receiver and Seth Whetstone (5-10, 180, Jr.) will play tight end.
DEFENSE
The Wildcats’ defense was strong last year, holding their opponents to an average score of 10 points per game. They also held five of their opponents scoreless. They will look to be strong and physical this season and that starts with the defensive line. Kason Smart (5-10, 190, So.) will be at nose guard, while Duarte and Baker are at defensive end. This trio will be dominant and will set the tone for the entire defensive unit. Chain and Whetstone both be at linebacker and working to keep the offense in check. Chain has been a starter since his freshman season, and he comes into this season primed to be a leader on the defensive unit.
