Thanks to some new hires at Cimarron, the Trailblazers will have some new faces that will look to make an impact on the court. “We received a big boost with coach kids who moved into Cimarron,” said new boys head coach Reggie Island. “Our girls coach, Tom Butler, moved over with his sons, Avery, Drake, and Ethan from Frontier. I was hired and my son, Ross moved from Calumet. All four players will be counted on heavily to help change the culture and provide leadership and a scoring punch.” Ethan Butler (6-1, Jr.) will be counted on to lead the team in scoring this year. He has all the tools to score, with the ability to score from the perimeter or inside.
He is an exceptional rebounder with his anticipation and his quick leaping ability. His brother, Drake Butler (6-3, Jr.), has a great three point shooting touch for a taller player. He is learning to improve his game on driving to the bucket and playing on both sides of the ball. Collin Franklin (5-7, So.) started as a freshman for Cimarron last year and gained valuable experience. He will be counted on for his experience to bring defense and shooting to space the floor. A hard worker, Ross Island (6-0, So.) will help the Trailblazers in defense and spacing the floor. Bradley Goodnight (5-7, Jr.) was a starter last year as a sophomore.
He is a great defender and can finish his layups despite him being undersized. He also rebounds really well for his size. Other members of the team that will look to make contributions are Avery Butler (5-9, Sr.), Wyatt Johnson (5-10, Jr.), Anthony Montano (6-2, Jr.), Jackson Skaggs (6-1, Jr.), Colten Stephens (5-6, Jr.), Colton Bragg (5-7, So.), Benjamin Garza (6-1, So.), Brysen Pope (5-7, So.), Casey Schmidt (6-3, So.), Peyton Johnson (5-11, Fr., Kyler Patterson (5-5, Fr.), and Braxton Pettus (5-10, Fr.).
