Basketball is more than just a sport for Oklahoma Bible Academy junior Kami Jenkins—it’s a platform to lead, encourage, and grow. As a multi-sport athlete who also plays volleyball, Kami has embraced the challenges and rewards that come with competing at a high level. “My sport has taught me the importance of encouraging one another on and off the court,” she said, a lesson that carries well beyond the gym.
Being part of a competitive team comes with unforgettable moments, and Kami has already had her share. “A major memory is making it to the State Championship with my basketball team in 2024,” she said. It’s the kind of moment that motivates her to keep pushing forward—both on the court and in life.
When Kami pulls on her jersey for OBA, she knows she’s not just playing for herself. “My favorite part about representing OBA as an athlete is the opportunity to inspire younger kids to get out of their comfort zone and try a sport and work hard at it every day.”
Her drive is fueled not only by competition but by the people around her. “My inspiration comes from my coaches. My dad, coach Randy Roth, and coach Chris Cayot, all push me to work harder every day to help my team reach our goals,” Kami said. That strong support system extends beyond the court as well.
One of the biggest blessings in her athletic journey has been her teammates. “I cannot pick one teammate, but my four seniors have been the most amazing teammates throughout our six years of playing together. Conley, Karson, Lilyan, and Brianna have shown me ways to better myself as a player, but they have truly impacted my spiritual life and have helped shape me into the person I am today.”
Outside of sports, Kami continues to pursue her passions. “Outside of OBA and sports, I am currently a cosmetology student at Autry Tech,” she said.
