CHISHOLM LONGHORNS

Coach: KIMES GILBERT

6-5

OFFENSE

The Longhorns enter this season looking to continue to see progress in the program. Second year head coach KimesGilbert says that the team has worked hard to improve each season and he expects that to continue this season. “We bring back a good core group of seniors and several underclassmen with experience,” he said. “They have been vital in the turnaround from an 0-10 season the year before my tenure, then to a 1-9 season, and finally to 6-5 last season. They are excited about what this season holds and are hungry to continue the upward trajectory for Chisholm Football.” Leading the offense at quarterback will be Kelson Hamilton (6-0, 185, Sr.). Last season he accumulated 2,017 passing yards and 573 rushing yards with 22 total touchdowns. Two of his targets from last season are back to be impact players. Tight end Easton John (6-2, 205, Sr.) had 284 receiving yards and two touchdowns and wide receiver Brandon Taylor (6-1, 170, Jr.) totaled 196 yards and two scores. A trio of seniors will be important players on the offensive line. Matthew Fischer (6-4, 250, Sr.), Micah McVay (6-0, 210, Sr.), and Dante Delatorre (5-10, 225, Sr.) will work to keep the defense out of the backfield.

DEFENSE

On the defensive side of the ball, the Longhorns bring back a solid number of players that saw a lot of playing time last season. Easton John (6-2, 205, Sr.) tallied 103 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception last season at linebacker. He is expected to continue that production this season. Also back at linebacker is Hunter Perdue (5-11, 190, Sr.). He ended last season with 52 tackles and two tackles for loss. On the defensive line, Trevor Haws (6-2, 200, Sr.), Trevin Reneau (6-0, 225, So.), and McVay will try to cause problems for opposing offenses. Last year they combined for 161 tackles, seven sacks, and one interception and should have the same impact this season. In the secondary, cornerback Brandon Taylor (6-1, 170, Jr.) registered 47 tackles and four pass break-ups. Assistant coaches this season are Dalton Stafford, Reece Gilbert, Mike Fields, Jayden Dobbs, Beaux Biggers, Riley Thompson, and Kyler Freeman.
