Waynoka’s Kolin Bechard – Presented by Northwest Technology Center

Kolin Bechard is in his junior year at Waynoka High School. With his high school years coming to an end next May, Kolin is already gearing up for life after high school. And he is able to do that thanks to the Northwest Technology Center in Alva.

“I am in the Electrical Program at Northwest Tech,” Bechard said. “My plan after high school is to find an electrician job nearby and continue to work towards owning my own business.”

When he was first introduced to the opportunities available at Northwest Technology Center, Kolin realized it would be very beneficial.

“We toured the vo-tech many times and it seemed like a good opportunity to take,” he said. “The electrical program seemed interesting and the best fit for me.”
The time he has spent in the program is something that Kolin is thankful for and says that he thinks others should take advantage of it if they are able to.

“It is a great opportunity if they have a class you are interested in,” he said. “My program is preparing me to go into the workforce and work towards becoming a journeyman.”

As a student at Waynoka, Bechard plays football, basketball, and baseball. While he enjoys the competition aspect of his sports, he also likes the camaraderie.

“I like working with my teammates to be successful,” Bechard said.

Throughout his life, there have been people that have had an impact on Kolin’s life and helped shape him into the person and the athlete that he is today.
“My biggest influences would have to be my coaches,” he stated. “I really look up to them and try my hardest for them.”

Both on and off the field and court, Kolin has made a lot of memories with his teammates. But he says that there is one that stands out the most.

“The highlight of my career would have to be playing in the Class C state championship game my freshman year,” he recalled.
