Alva’s Myka Louthan – Athlete Spotlight- Presented by Stillwater Women’s Clinic

There’s a certain rhythm to the way Myka Louthan competes, fast, focused, and fearless, no matter the event. A sophomore at Alva High School, she doesn’t settle into just one lane. Instead, she thrives in variety, anchoring her team as a catcher in softball while stretching her abilities across pole vault, javelin, shot put, and sprinting in track.

That range isn’t accidental. It’s built on years of high-level competition and a willingness to embrace challenges others might avoid. Louthan has already made a name for herself on a national stage, earning five All-American honors at the AAU Track & Field Junior Olympics. She’s reached the podium in multiple events, high jump, javelin, pentathlon, and twice in pole vault, proving she’s not just versatile, but consistently elite.

Still, what defines her most isn’t the medals, it’s her mindset. Competing against top athletes from across the country has shaped how she sees both success and failure. She understands that winning isn’t guaranteed, and that setbacks are part of growth. That perspective shows up in how she trains, how she competes, and how she carries herself.

“Give it to God, and have fun!”

That simple advice has stayed with her, grounding her through both pressure and opportunity.

Back home, Louthan’s strength comes from the people around her. She credits her mom as her biggest inspiration, someone whose work ethic and steady support have shaped who she is becoming. On the field, she shares a strong connection with her pitcher, Trinity Stevens, a bond built on trust, effort, and a shared commitment to their team.

She also hasn’t forgotten the mentors who helped her early on, like her fourth-grade teacher, Ms. Franz, who made school enjoyable and showed up to support her outside the classroom. And in track, Coach Steve Gale has played a major role, offering not just instruction, but genuine investment in her success.

Whether she’s competing on a national stage or representing Alva in front of a hometown crowd, Louthan brings the same energy: driven, grounded, and fully engaged in the moment.
