Jaye Bauman is a freshman at Chisholm High School who participates in softball and student council. She began playing softball nine years ago. As soon as she was able to hold a real bat, she was ready to start playing. Bauman’s favorite part about softball is experiencing the intensity of it with her friends. Those intense moments can turn a group of girls into an extended family that you have for the rest of your life.
The highest moment in her career so far has been joining the Oklahoma Pure 16U, a national level softball team. Joining a national team at only fifteen is definitely something to celebrate. Her favorite sports moments were when her team was doing bonding activities.
Bauman’s biggest positive impact is her eighth-grade history teacher, Mr. Snider.
“He helped me understand my learning style and encouraged me throughout my hard times,” Bauman said.
Her biggest role model is her sister because she showed Bauman how much can be accomplished when you work as hard as you can. Her favorite subject in school is Biology.
“I love learning about how the body works and how even the little things can affect something else,” Bauman says.
Her favorite teacher is Mr. Hula, because he has always pushed her to do her best, even when she didn’t always understand the material. In her free time, Bauman likes to practice softball and help out around the house. For fun, she likes to play softball and hang out with friends. Bauman plans to play softball through college while studying for a career in pharmaceuticals.
To Bauman, being a good athlete means that you need to put in one hundred and ten percent, even when no one is watching, and always spread kindness. Sports have taught her that you can’t give up, even when the situation is hard or tedious. It’s always great to have something that motivated you when the situation isn’t looking good, or you can see that there’s a hard road ahead. When things get tough for Bauman, her mom is her biggest motivation.
“She always has the best advice and never fails to help me succeed,” Bauman says.
Her advice to her fellow athletes is to never give up on the things that you love.
