After an early playoff exit last season, the Whippets are looking for growth this season and could surprise some people. Head coach Jake Regier likes the look of his team and is ready to get the season underway. “This team has shown a great deal of improvement over the summer,” Regier said. “We have many players who gained valuable experience over the past season and our team has plenty of depth. We will strive to be a tough and tenacious team on the defensive side of the ball.”
A trio of seniors will look to be leaders on the team this season. Bryan Briseno (Sr.), Destry Swaim (Sr.), and Wyatt Graham (Sr.) are three outstanding athletes that will look to guide the Whippets to a successful season. Other players that will look to play a role this season are Hudson Feely (Sr.), Ace Long (Jr.), Ben Cheap (Jr.), Brayson Roberts (Jr.), Corbin Cagle (Jr.), Ethan Milligan (Jr.), Marley Bisel (Jr.), William Woolley (Jr.), Lincoln Feely (Jr.), Blayne Jinkens (So.), Erick Quintana (So.), Brett Woolley (Fr.), Cale Anthony (Fr.), Dalton Turnham (Fr.), Haden Noll (Fr.), Jaylen Renteria (Fr.), Luke Boeckman (Fr.), and Julio Acevado (Fr.). Joining the coaching staff as an assistant coach is 2007 Okeene state championship team member Shane Feely.
