Kingfisher Yellowjackets Boys Soccer

As Kingfisher boys soccer coach Isaac Waltman prepares for the upcoming season, he says that he likes the make up of his team and he feels like there is a lot of potential with this season’s squad.

“There’s something special about this year’s team,” he said. “With nine returning starters, we’re bringing back a wealth of experience, grit, and chemistry to the field. These guys have been through battles together, and they’re ready to turn last season’s near miss into something memorable. But it’s not just the veterans who make us excited. We’ve got a few underclassmen who are primed and ready to make a bigger impact after getting solid playing time last year. Watching them grow and step up has been one of the highlights of our preseason. They’re proof that the future of Kingfisher soccer is just as bright as the present.”

One of the leaders on this year’s team will be senior Santiago Ortega. He is an electric player that is a two-time team Most Valuable Player, and he consistently delivers when it matters the most. Leading the team in both goals and assists for two consecutive years, his ability to finish chances and create opportunities for his teammates is unmatched. Whether it’s threading the perfect through ball or finding the back of the net in a critical moment, Santiago’s impact on the game is undeniable.

Eduardo Delatorre is another guy to keep an eye on this season. Coming into his sophomore year and he is ready to make his mark. He is stepping into a starting role after a strong freshman season as a key rotational player. His hard work and determination have earned him this spot, and he’s poised to become a difference-maker.

Jairo Velarde brings a level of toughness and determination to the team. As a key defender, Jairo has become the backbone of the team’s defense, using his physicality and leadership to anchor the back line.

Along with being a solid athlete, Elijah Click is also an outstanding teammate. He’s a true character-first athlete, embodying leadership, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in everything he does. Beyond soccer, Elijah is actively involved in numerous organizations, but he shines brightest through his work with his Federated Church youth group. His faith and service to others set a powerful example for his teammates and peers.
