Mooreland High School’s Emily Eilers

Mooreland High School senior golfer Emily Eilers has built her game on persistence, patience and a genuine love for the people around her. From early-morning practices to long tournament days, she has discovered not only how to lower her scores, but also how to lead by example for the Bearcats.

Eilers, who lists art as her favorite subject in school, brings that same creative mindset to the golf course. Her favorite club is her 6-utility wood, a go-to option she trusts because “it’s the only one I can hit good consistently,” she said. That reliability helped her post her best round, an 89 at Laverne during her junior year, a milestone that showed her how far her game has come.

Much of Eilers’ growth has been guided by Mooreland coach Ms. Godwin, whom she calls a major inspiration. “She always pushes me to do better, and makes the whole sport a joy,” Eilers said. That positive approach has shaped a team culture built on support and accountability, something Eilers values as much as any scorecard. “I enjoy the comradery with my teammates and the culture we are able to create,” she said.

Away from competition, Eilers enjoys painting and relaxing with reality TV, a balance that keeps her grounded during a long season. On the course, she likes to watch PGA Tour standout Scottie Scheffler, admiring his steady, composed style of play. Her favorite place to tee it up is Crystal Beach, a course she appreciates “because of the people and how accessible it is.”

Looking back on her high school career, Eilers says golf has given her confidence that reaches beyond fairways and greens. “It has taught me that I can do anything I set my mind to,” she said. Whether she is chasing a new personal best or encouraging a teammate, that mindset will continue to drive her long after her days at Mooreland are done.
