Mooreland High School’s Malory Aldridge

Senior golfer Malory Aldridge has learned that the numbers on the scorecard never tell the whole story. The Mooreland High School standout has built her game – and her outlook – around dedication, consistency and the people who support her.

Aldridge, a senior at Mooreland, said her biggest inspiration is her mom, who she has watched continually put others first no matter the circumstances. “My mom is one of my biggest inspirations, no matter what she goes through she always shows up for everyone else,” Aldridge said. That example of perseverance has carried over to the golf course and the classroom, where science is her favorite subject and Mrs. Godwin stands out as her favorite teacher.

On the course, Aldridge leans on a reliable 7-iron, the club she said she can hit solid the most consistently. She recently posted the best round of her career, a 99 at the Pioneer Lady Mustang Invitational in Enid, a milestone that reflects her steady improvement. She enjoys playing Boiling Springs Golf Course because it is a familiar layout and a place where she feels comfortable competing.

Aldridge said the best part of high school golf is the close-knit bond she has formed with her coach and teammates. Away from school, she likes to golf with her boyfriend or simply spend time at home with her family. On television, she follows Bryson DeChambeau, particularly his performances at the Masters in recent years.

Much of Aldridge’s focus has been on sharpening her short game and finding more consistency with her utility woods. She said athletics has taught her that success demands dedication and commitment, and that attitude and mindset can shape the final outcome as much as any swing. As she finishes her senior season, those lessons figure to stay with her long after her last round for Mooreland High School.
