Woodward’s Julia Nail – Teacher of the Month
For Julia Nail, this school year marks an exciting new chapter in her teaching career. After spending nine years in elementary education, Nail began her first year as a physical science teacher at Woodward High School. Her passion for learning and dedication to her students have helped make the transition both rewarding and inspiring.
Nail graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She later earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Oklahoma State University.
Transitioning to the high school level has allowed Nail to experience a new side of education, filled with older students who are beginning to define their futures.
“This year at the high school level, I have loved getting to know students from all different walks of life. Learning about their hobbies, interests, and what they plan to do after high school has been so fun,” Nail shared.
Outside the classroom, Nail enjoys spending time with her husband, lifting weights, and following her three children to their sports events and sheep shows.
“My biggest inspiration would be my kids and my students. They keep me going and push me to be the best version of myself,” Nail said.
Nail shared that her students and children also remind her of the importance of grace and joy in everyday life.
“My kids and students offer forgiveness and love when I fall short,” she said. “They brighten my day and make me laugh on the days I need it most.”
Perhaps one of the most rewarding parts of her new role is seeing familiar faces from her early years of teaching.
“I am lucky enough to be with some of my students from my first year of teaching. Seeing my students flourish in high school and achieve so many accomplishments they dreamed about in elementary makes my heart so happy.” Nail added.
At Woodward High School, Nail continues to inspire and be inspired, proving that great teachers never stop learning.
