As a freshman, Remle Ross is already making a name for herself at Mooreland High School through her strong work ethic, standout athletic achievements, and dedication to her community.
“Remle has really come onto her own during her junior high years and hit the ground running this fall,” said cross country coach Kendra Hoover. “She is a freshman to watch. A super hard-nosed competitor!”
As a distance and middle-distance runner, Ross is passionate about cross country. Ross also competes in basketball during the winter and track in the spring.
Ross’ high school cross country career has had a dream start. She broke the school record at her very first meet. That success didn’t come easy.
“It takes a lot of hard work and dedication,” she says. “And a lot of running!”
When asked who inspires her, Ross doesn’t hesitate to name her cross country coach, Coach Hoover.
“She makes everyone feel welcome and like family,” Ross shared. “She makes it easy to overcome really challenging things.”
She also credits her Ag teacher, Ms. Focht as someone who also inspires her. Ms. Focht is one who constantly goes above and beyond.
“Both are extremely passionate about their programs, and you can feel their heart in both.”
Outside of athletics, Ross is involved in FFA and shows livestock. She’s already looking toward her future with plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue veterinary school.
Representing Mooreland is something Ross takes seriously.
“It’s an honor,” she says. “I try my best to be someone that younger athletes or showmen can look up to.”
To add to this, Ross shares that good character means showing up for others.
“It’s about being there for someone when they’re down, cheering people on when they want to quit, and having hard work and integrity in everything you do.”
With the support of her family, coaches, and friends, Remle Ross is well on her way to becoming a leader in both athletics and life.
