Waukomis’ Jakobi Moulder – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Enid Prolawn and Waukomis Community Church

Waukomis High School is home to many talented student-athletes, but few match the drive and versatility of sophomore Jakobi Moulder. A three-sport athlete, Jakobi competes in cross country, basketball, and track.  He excels in each with an unmatched combination of grit, athleticism, and love for the game.

In basketball, Jakobi plays as a combo guard, balancing scoring and playmaking duties. His role demands both leadership and adaptability, something he’s embraced fully. “I like being active, challenging myself, and seeing the results of my hard work,” he says. His commitment extends beyond the school season as he plays for Legacy Youth Basketball during the summer, traveling across the region to face elite competition. These experiences have sharpened his game and deepened his passion.

On the track, Jakobi showcases a rare blend of speed and power. He competes in the high jump, long jump, and distance running events, demonstrating both explosive ability and endurance. His dedication to training has already produced results, and he continues to push himself in pursuit of personal bests.

Jakobi’s athletic journey began with a simple love for being active, but it’s fueled by something deeper: his family. His mother, a former state champion in track, and his father, a coach, are his biggest inspirations. “They motivate me to go further than I thought I could,” Jakobi says. Their support, combined with his relentless work ethic, has shaped him into a disciplined and goal-oriented competitor.

The highlight of his young career came during his freshman year, when he qualified for the state cross country meet.  This is an accomplishment that speaks volumes about his talent and determination. Jakobi shared, “It showed me even at a young age hard work pays off.” For Jakobi, moments like that are just the beginning. “Accomplishing my goals keeps me striving for more,” he explains.

Jakobi recognizes that his accomplishments aren’t given and his improvement is a process: “To be successful in sports it takes hard work, dedication, and the willingness to show up. Success isn’t given, it’s earned.” That philosophy not only guides him in athletics but also in life.

Outside of competition, Jakobi enjoys spending time outdoors, especially fishing. Whether he’s training,  relaxing by the water, or reeling in a big fish he’s always learning and growing.

As he continues through high school, Jakobi Moulder is a name to watch. With his talent, drive, and support system, he’s well on his way to achieving great things on and off the field.
