Pond Creek-Hunter’s Blayne Tefft – Football Spotlight – Presented by Elizabeth Hiatt – Shelter Insurance

Blayne Teft is a senior at Pond-Creek Hunter High School. He is more than just a multi-sport athlete; he’s the kind of student and teammate who embodies dedication, loyalty, and small-town pride. Whether he’s making plays on the basketball court, dominating the baseball diamond, or delivering hard hits on the football field, Blayne is a competitor driven by family, faith, and community.

Blayne developed a love for sports at a young age, following in the footsteps of his father, an 8-man All-Star. That legacy fuels his determination. “I want to do the best I can for my family, teammates, and Coach Bowman,” he shares. Motivation runs deep for the Senior, who credits his success not just to natural talent, but to the support system around him, including his longtime teacher, Mrs. Johndrow (Mrs. JJ), who has been a guiding figure since fifth grade.

Blayne plays multiple sports, and he’s all in, no matter what sport he’s playing. In basketball, he plays guard with occasional point guard duties. On the football field, he’s a true utility player: halfback, corner, linebacker, and running back. In baseball, he holds down the shortstop and pitcher positions. His commitment to athletics is evident; he trains with private coaches, attends weekend tournaments, and maintains a rigorous workout routine paired with a devoted work ethic.

One highlight of his high school athletic career was winning the Skeltur Basketball Tournament during his sophomore year. He also thrives in rivalry games. One of his favorite memories was against the Medford Cardinals. “It’s a long-standing rivalry, and games are always intense,” he says. Facing off against top-tier athletes like Cole Mitchell, who graduated recently, helps push Blayne to higher levels of performance.

Though sports are where Blayne spends most of his time. He has also managed to stay involved in other areas of school life. He participated in the yearbook and works as a lifeguard, balancing academics and extracurriculars with the same drive he brings to athletics. When asked who inspires him, he says he doesn’t follow any person, but constantly studies different sports figures and techniques, always seeking to be next level.

At home, his parents and grandparents provide unwavering support, with early mornings and late nights spent training in the gym. “It’s very important to me to represent my community well,” Blayne says. “I want to play hard and respectfully. I love my school and I’m proud to be part of a small town.”

As he looks toward graduation, Blayne is still exploring his future. He mentioned possibly playing baseball at the collegiate level, but no matter where he lands after high school.  One thing is certain: Blayne will continue to lead by example.
