Woodward High School senior Lexi Wendell has built a name for herself as a talented athlete and dedicated student. Balancing her time between the softball diamond and the basketball court, Wendell’s energy, determination and love for competition set her apart as a true leader among her peers.
On the softball field, Wendell shines as a middle infielder, quick on her feet, sharp in her instincts and steady under pressure. When basketball season rolls around, she transitions seamlessly to the court, where she plays guard with the same intensity and focus that define her approach to every game. For Wendell, sports are more than a pastime; they are a passion fueled by purpose.
“I’m motivated by my love for the game and my desire to get better every day,” Wendell said.
That mindset has driven her through countless hours of practice, lifting sessions and late nights dedicated to perfecting her skills. Her commitment to improvement has not only made her a better athlete but has also taught her lessons about perseverance, teamwork and character.
Wendell credits much of her success to the people who have believed in her along the way.
“My biggest influences are those who believe in me and support me even when I doubt myself,” Wendell said. “I appreciate anyone who pushes me to work hard.”
That support system, from family, coaches and friends keeps her grounded and motivated, especially during challenging times.
Beyond athletics, Wendell is an active member of National Honor Society and Pep Club, exemplifying her dedication to school spirit and academic excellence. Balancing her studies and sports has required discipline and time management, qualities that will serve her well long after high school.
Faith also plays a meaningful role in Wendell’s life. She finds inspiration from content creator Bryce Crawford on TikTok, whose heartfelt messages resonate deeply with her.
“He shares his heartfelt testimony and pushes us to want to be better Christians,” said Wendell.
Whether she’s fielding ground balls, making plays on the court or encouraging others to keep faith and work hard, Wendell embodies what it means to be a student-athlete displaying humility and always striving to be her best.
