Kevyn Medina is the kind of player who brings energy, grit, and purpose every time he steps onto the soccer field. A sophomore at Woodward High School, Medina anchors his team as both a center back and center midfielder, two positions that demand toughness, awareness, and leadership.
For Medina, one moment stands out above the rest. It wasn’t just a win, it was a statement.
“My most proud memory is beating Clinton last year.”
That victory still fuels him, but what drives him daily goes beyond a single game. Soccer has helped shape who he is, both as an athlete and as a person.
“My sport has taught me to be disciplined and how to push myself and others to work harder and be better.”
That mindset shows in the way he trains and competes. Whether he’s locking down opponents on defense or helping control the pace in the midfield, Medina plays with determination and focus. He also leans on those around him for motivation.
“My coaches and teammates inspire me every day to work harder and push myself to the fullest.”
One teammate in particular has had a lasting impact.
“I would say Diego because he helps me every day get better as a person and an athlete.”
Off the field, Medina values relationships just as much. He points to Mrs. Cook as a favorite teacher, someone who makes school enjoyable and meaningful through connection and conversation.
Representing Woodward means something deeper than just wearing a jersey. For Medina, it’s about pride, growth, and enjoying every moment with his teammates.
“Showing what I am capable of and having fun with all my teammates throughout the season.”
He carries advice that keeps him going, even in the toughest moments.
“Always keep going even if you’re tired, keep pushing yourself and prove yourself with everything you have.”
And through it all, he never forgets the people who’ve supported him the most.
“I wanna shout out my brothers, they have always been there for me and pushed me through lots of hard times.”
