Woodward’s Kamber Clark- Athlete Spotlight- Presented By Newman Memorial Hospital

Kamber Clark is going to be a senior next year at Woodward High School. She participates in fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, NHS, FCA, and Pep Club. She’s been participating in softball for 11 years after her parents signed her up so that she could give it a try. Kamber’s favorite part about softball is getting to make new friends and build strong connections. The highest moment in her career so far was when she and her team became district champs and regional runner up in her junior year. She’s previously been awarded academic letterman, Kiwanis award for being top 10% in her class, superintendent honor roll, the golden W award, and lettered in golf, slow-pitch, and fast-pitch softball.

Her biggest positive impacts have been her family. Kamber says “They have always been there for me, supporting and encouraging me through both good times and bad. Their love and guidance have helped me stay focused on my goals and believe in myself even when things get tough.” Her biggest role model has been her mom. “She works super hard and never gives up, no matter what, and that’s something I really admire,” Kamber says.

In her free time, Kamber likes to hang out with friends, play pickleball, and go camping and swimming with her family. Her favorite subject in school is science, because she likes to figure out how things work and discover new ideas. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Greeff because he creates a non-toxic and supportive classroom environment where everyone feels comfortable and tells jokes. After high school, Kamber plans to study Health Science at SWOSU with a career goal of being a dental hygienist.

Sports have taught Kamber about not giving up. “It’s not just about being good at the sport, but about putting in the time and effort.” She also says that the lessons she’s learned in sports have helped her in life. For Kamber, being a great athlete means having dedication and committing to getting better every day. When things get tough, Kamber draws from her self determination to persist and work harder. The advice that she wants to share with others is to always believe in yourself, even when you mess up or things get super hard.
