Woodward’s Adelyn Friend – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma

Woodward High School senior Adelyn Friend started playing softball when she was only seven years old. Now in her final season of varsity play, Friend said she loves being part of a great team with great teammates.

“I love how supportive and uplifting my teammates are, not only to me, but to the whole team,” said Friend.

Softball is not the only activity Friend is involved with at WHS. Friend is a member of the FFA chapter at school and is involved in several FFA activities.

“I’m involved in community service, vet science, public speaking, and leadership activities,” said Friend.

Friend said she first joined FFA when she was in the eighth grade. Since becoming a member of the chapter and playing softball, Friend said she has learned many lessons she will use throughout her life.

“FFA has taught me leadership, responsibility, and the importance of community service. Softball has taught me teamwork, discipline, and to get back up after I fail. They both have taught me valuable life skills,” said Friend.

Her plans after high school include attending college where she plans to obtain a degree in nursing.

“I want to further my education at SWOSU and get my bachelor’s in science and nursing, with hopes to become an RN,” said Friend.

She draws inspiration from her family, specifically her older sister.

“My biggest inspiration is my older sister, Lizzie. She is one of my best friends and is very kind, compassionate, confident, and independent. She is not afraid to follow her dreams and achieve her goals,” said Friend.
