Teachers have a big impact on the lives of the students that they teach. Not just in the lessons, but also in the example that they set. Jacey Dauphin is a teacher at Woodward High School and she says that her teachers when she was a student are the reason she is a teacher today.
“I was very fortunate to have great teachers my entire career as a student,” she said. “I cannot think of any that would have discouraged my choice to become an educator or turned me away from loving the school setting.”
Dauphin teaches Health, First Aid, and Physical Education at Woodward. This is her second year at WHS, but before coming here, she made stops at Buffalo, Laverne, Vici, and Arnett.
While her teachers were very influential in her choosing this career path, Jacey has two special people that were role models for her.
“Both of my parents were teachers and coaches,” Dauphin stated. “I guess maybe it was just a family way of life. It is all I knew as a kid growing up.”
Jacey knows that the lessons that she teaches her students will help them on their educational journey. But she also hopes that she is able to help them grow as people too.
“I enjoy being around the kids,” she said. “It is great to be able to have a small impact on their story, hopefully a positive one. One of the best pieces of advice that I have received was ‘You never know the impact you could have on a life. Try and make it a good one’.”
When she is not in the classroom, Jacey enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband Marc have two kids, Easton and Oaklee. She also likes to be outdoors and doing things like riding horses, hunting, fishing, and just about anything outdoors and active.
