Woodward Mom – Miranda Fischer – Presented by Randy’s Pharmacy

Athletes at the high school level invest a lot of time and effort in the sports that they compete in. They work hard so that they can be at the top of their game. As a mom, Miranda Fischer wants her kids to succeed in their sports, but she also wants them to understand that those sports do not limit them.

“I think the toughest part of being the parent of a high school athlete is trying to get them to understand that who you are as an athlete doesn’t define who you are as a person,” she said. “I want my kids to be the best person they can be.”

Fischer is the mother of four. Ryan is a senior that plays football and soccer, and is also a powerlifter. Bryleigh is also a senior. She plays fast pitch softball, basketball, and soccer. Eighth grader Payslie plays fast pitch softball, basketball, and soccer. Mackynzlee is in the fourth grade and she is a competitive dancer and recently started pom.

While she wants them to be great overall humans, Miranda does not expect them to do it on their own.

“I push my kids to be the best versions of themselves on and off the field,” she said. “So we work lots outside of school hours to help them reach their goals. A lot of us moms also really enjoy getting together to help do team dinners, get snacks, decorate locker rooms, and really anything that coaches ask of us.”

Along with always cheering on and supporting her kids, Fischer says that she is thankful for the impact that the Woodward school district has had on her kids.

“The thing I love most about my kids’ school is the love they receive from their coaches,” she stated. “Woodward has some of the greatest coaches and I am so thankful my kids have been able to play for them. The parents of my kids’ teammates are a real close second. I have had the pleasure of sitting next to some of the greatest moms over the last four years of high school athletics. We also have great community support. It’s been a fun ride and I’m looking forward to the last few months with my seniors.”
