Woodward Mom – Becky Castor – Presented by Randy’s Pharmacy

Parenting can come with a number of different challenges and issues. But over the course of your child’s life, the impact that you make can be immeasurable. Becky Castor is the proud mother of two and she says that instilling things in them when they are young can pay off for them when they are older.

“The toughest thing about being a parent of a high school athlete is to continuously remind my child to focus and work on developing faith, integrity and perseverance along with their skills in a sport or in a classroom,” she said. “We can lose focus and get caught up on the wins and losses, trying to be a perfect student, or comparing our abilities to others. Sports and academics will come and go but having strong faith, integrity and perseverance will consistently stay with you forever. Those priorities help you be a better friend, student, athlete and eventually a successful and happy adult.  These things are what I hope my kids learn to focus on.”

Becky’s daughter Madelyn is a freshman at Woodward High School. She plays fastpitch softball and golf for the Boomers, while also being a cheerleader. She is an excellent student with a 4.0 GPA. Outside of school, she cheers for the Woodward Allstar competitive cheer squad. Her son Luke is a sixth grade student at Woodward Middle School. He plays soccer, golf, and plays the guitar. He is an active member of the Student Council, a TAP (Technical Applications Program) officer, and one of four captains of the WMS Academic team.

Castor is proud to raise her kids in Woodward, a community she has been a part of for most of her life.

“I am glad my kids get to grow up and experience school in the same town I did,” she said. “I know many teachers, coaches and staff personally and call them friends. I am confident that my children are well taken care of and could turn to someone at  the school for guidance. Communication between families and the school is always welcomed.”
