Woodward Area Teacher of the Month – Kiara Deviney – Presented by Advanced Real Estate Advisors

At Woodward High School, students in Art 1 are greeted with passion, creativity, and inspiration every day thanks to the dedication of teacher Kiara Deviney. Now in her second year at WHS, Deviney brings a deep love for art and a heart for education into everything she does.

Deviney teaches Art 1 to students in grades 9 through 12, helping them explore their creativity and develop their artistic voice. “I love watching students explore their creativity and discover new ways to express themselves through art,” she shared. “Seeing their imaginations come to life is incredibly rewarding.”

Her journey into education began with an early influence—her middle school art teacher, Emily Lively—whose impact continues to shape her teaching philosophy. “She once told me, ‘I’ve never worked a day in my life because I love what I do,’” Deviney recalled. “That perspective has stuck with me ever since.”

Before joining Woodward High School, Deviney taught at Woodward Christian Academy and worked as a long-term substitute teacher at Fort Supply and Sharon-Mutual. She also spent time teaching overseas during college, an experience that confirmed her calling to the classroom.

Outside of school, Deviney is a proud wife and mother. She and her husband, Caleb, have four children and stay busy with family life, church, and sporting events. When she finds spare time, she enjoys painting, running, and working out.

Her classroom is not just a place to learn about techniques and tools—it’s a space where students are encouraged to take risks, find their voice, and discover confidence through creativity.

“I feel truly blessed to be in a career that combines my passion for art with the opportunity to encourage and inspire students every day,” she said.

With her warmth, passion, and commitment to helping students grow, Kiara Deviney is more than just a teacher—she’s a mentor, a motivator, and a true difference-maker at Woodward High School.
