As a senior at Seiling High School, Kadence “Kadee” Griffin has not only left an indelible mark on her basketball team but has also excelled academically and in numerous extracurricular activities. With a career that began as soon as she could hold a basketball, she has spent years working toward one ultimate goal: to leave it all on the court for her team, and she’s certainly done just that.
“I’ve been going to basketball games since I can remember. Watching the bigger girls run out and play has always been exciting to me, and I’ve always strived to be like them,” she recalls of what first sparked her love for the sport.
That passion has led her to a standout career at Seiling High School, where she has earned a reputation as both a skilled player and a fierce competitor.
One of her most cherished memories to date is stepping onto the floor at the Big House, a moment that solidified her high school basketball career.
“Winning the state championship is also a favorite!” she says, reflecting on the unforgettable experience of playing with her lifelong friends and teammates.
The bond she shares with her team is palpable, and it is what drives her to always give her best. “They mean the world to me, and that makes me want to do my best for them,” she adds.
Competition is a driving force for Griffin, and she’s always motivated by the idea that someone else might be working harder to surpass her. Her favorite opponent to compete against is Alva, but it’s not just the rivalry, it’s sportsmanship.
“I get to play against my best friend,” she shares, a reminder that the game is more than just a sport; it’s about the connections that are built.
When it comes to motivation, Griffin looks up to Chelsea Duffy, the assistant coach, who has played an integral role in her development. The respect and admiration she holds for her coach are clear, and it’s a trait she aspires to carry into her own future.
“She’s such a positive person and pushes you to do your best. I hope to be like her someday,” she says.
Outside of basketball, Griffin is an exceptional student and a leader. As Seiling High School’s student council president and vice president of FCA, she balances leadership with academics. A standout in chemistry, she enjoys lab work and is preparing for college with plans to study sonography.
With a bright future ahead, Griffin plans to attend college and be a sonographer, but no matter where life takes her, her love for basketball and her commitment to excellence will continue to guide her journey.
