VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Zak: I am a sophomore at Laverne High School. I play football, basketball, and baseball.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Zak: Tayte Dome was the teammate that left the biggest impression on me. He showed me what a leader is supposed to be like. He was one of the hardest working athletes I’ve ever played with and expected us to do our part. He pushed me to be better.
VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
Zak: Making it to the state championship in football. Even though we didn’t win, it was still a dream come true. Also, hitting two home runs this season.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Zak: Probably my Uncle Trevor. Growing up and watching him play sports is what really made me into the athlete I am today. He won state in football two times, and that’s where I set my first goal. I wanted to do what he had done or more. Watching him give 100% in everything shows what hard work can get you.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Zak: I would say having people look up to me, not just as an athlete but as a person. It is amazing to be part of a great community like Laverne.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Zak: Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Zak: Mrs Johnson, because even though the work was hard, she made sure we always had fun. Just a fun and encouraging teacher.
VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?
Zak: Along with my sports, I’m also part of the Laverne FFA
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Zak: Mom’s cheeseburger soup
