Q&A with Hooker’s Gunnar Martens – Presented by First National Bank of Hooker

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Gunnar: I am a sophomore at Hooker High School. I play football, basketball, and baseball, and I run track.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

Gunnar: Making the state championship game in football two years in a row

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Gunnar: I always enjoy playing for the community and all the support we get throughout our games.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Gunnar: Football has taught me that you have to be a good teammate and work together.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Gunnar: Justin Palacios has made the best impression and impact on my life because we have been best friends since fifth grade, and he is always there for me.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Gunnar: Blake is my biggest inspiration because ever since his passing, it has motivated me to work harder and be great for him.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Gunnar: Mrs. Harrison, because she inspires me to work harder and be a better person

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?

Gunnar: I look up to David Ortiz because I love how he played and how good he was.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Gunnar: I am going to Bora Bora, and I’m taking Justin, Keilan, Abriel, Kleat, and Alfonso.
