Peyton Cox…Making A Difference At Mooreland High – Presented by Slater Mechanical

By Jay Hoberecht

Peyton Cox is a 17-year-old young woman making a difference at Mooreland High School.  She is a senior, a great student, and a leader in her school.

Peyton is involved in the National Honor Society, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes,) and is part of the Bearcat golf team.

Peyton likes golf, but is so busy she doesn’t have much time to practice except during the season.  Her golf coach, Kayla Godwin, talked with me about Peyton’s leadership and positive attitude.  This season, Peyton suggested that the team pray before every tournament.  Now, it’s part of the routine before they tee it up!

She will likely go to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and major in Education.  She likes kids and wants to be a teacher.  Smiling, Peyton told me, “she wants to be the teacher you always wanted.” Think about that for a moment.  Solid goal!

She is Vice-President of her FCA Huddle and is part of the “Praise Team.”

She thinks FCA is a great program for schools.  The Mooreland Huddle meets once a week for breakfast and a devotion.  The group averages about 60.  They are also involved in some other FCA activities like “Fields of Faith” and “See You at the Pole”.  Marsha Bowers, FCA Sponsor, spoke with me about Peyton talking about her leadership, her openness about her faith, and that she talks with so many students.

Peyton Cox will be a senior leader this year at Mooreland High School!
