9 Questions with Woodward’s Cross Country Runner Kennedy Roach – Presented by Pioneer

VYPE: What grade are you currently in and how long have you been in cross country?

Kennedy Roach: I am in the ninth grade, and this is my second year of cross country.

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life and why?

KR: The biggest influence in my life is definitely my cross country teammates. They set a great example and are always team leaders.

VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?

KR: My favorite subject in school is history and my favorite teacher is Karen Chance.

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?

KR: My plans for after graduation is to make it into my dream college Oklahoma State University.

VYPE: What other clubs or groups are you involved in with the school?

KR: I am not involved in any other groups or clubs, my main focus in high school is and always will be my grades and athletics.

VYPE: Is the starting position at the beginning of a race strategic? Explain.

KR: The beginning of any race is definitely strategic. You have to focus strongly on your breathing and how fast you are going to go out in each race.

VYPE: Do you hear the crowd during a race?

KR: I do hear the crowd during the race, but I try my best to ignore it.

VYPE: Where do you like to run, if it’s for fun or practice?

KR: I absolutely love running on the trail early in the morning with someone beside me.

VYPE: What are your best times and where did you run them?

KR: My best 5K time is 23:13 which was run at the Mustang night run. I hope to improve over the season.
