2025 Mooreland Bearcats Football Preview – Presented by Great Plains Bank of Woodward

MOORELAND BEARCATS

Coach: MARK BARRETT

7-4

OFFENSE

The Mooreland Bearcats are coming off a solid seven-win season that saw them reach the Class A playoffs. Now under the direction of first-year head coach Mark Barrett, the Bearcats aim to build on that success and make a deeper postseason run. Quarterback Blaze Overton (5-8, 165, Jr.) returns to lead the offense. A strong leader and steady presence under center, Overton will be key in guiding the Bearcats down the field. He’ll be joined in the backfield by a talented young duo— Jacob Walker (6-0, 185, So.) and Daysen Thomas (6-0, 180, Fr.)—who are expected to make an immediate impact despite their youth. Up front, the offensive line will be anchored by Jesus Lucero (6-0, 245, Jr.) and Jackson Graybill (6-0, 185, So.), providing the protection and push needed to keep the offense moving. At tight end, Kaleb Singhisen (6-3, 205, So.) gives Overton another reliable target and adds a physical presence in both the passing and run game.

DEFENSE

Defensively, the Bearcats were tough last season, allowing just 21 points per game. This fall, they’ll look to maintain that intensity and keep opponents out of the end zone. Linebacker Ayden Quick (5-9, 175, Fr.) and Walker will lead the charge from the middle of the defense, flying to the football and making plays. In the secondary, Overton will patrol the defensive backfield, using his instincts and awareness to limit big plays and force turnovers.
