With a strong core of returning players and experienced leadership, the Hooker Lady Bulldogs are looking to take a big step forward this season. Coming off a 10-15 record in 2024, head coach Aaron Ruiz enters his 14th season with high hopes for his team’s growth and success.
“We returned eight girls who had significant playing time a year ago,” Ruiz said. “So we are looking forward to building off of our experience! We are excited to see what we can accomplish this season.”
The Lady Bulldogs will be led by senior catcher Kinley McGaha, a four-year starter and the team’s leader in nearly every statistical category. Her work ethic, leadership, and experience make her a crucial piece of the team’s success on both sides of the ball.
Another key returner is Yedi DeHerrera, a versatile utility player who has played third base, shortstop, and outfield. A right-handed hitter with the ability to slap and bunt from the left side, DeHerrera brings a dynamic offensive presence and a strong understanding of the game. Her work ethic and character set the tone for her teammates.
Also providing stability and leadership is Allie Metcalf, a player known for her coachability, consistency, and being a positive example for younger players in the program.
The Lady Bulldogs will have plenty of opportunities to test themselves this season, competing in the Hooker/Texhoma Tournament, Beaver Tournament, and Shattuck Tournament.
With a blend of experience, leadership, and grit, the 2025 Hooker Lady Bulldogs are aiming to make noise in the postseason and continue the growth of a program trending in the right direction.
