Tonkawa’s Rylie Turner – Presented by Farm Credit Western Oklahoma

Having grown up on a farm and living within the farming community, it was a natural progression for Tonkawa High School’s Rylie Turner to join the FFA chapter at school wen it was first available. With a little encouragement from two important people in her life, Turner made the jump into FFA and hasn’t looked back.

“I live on a farm most of my life but I started 4-H at the age of nine and then I went into FFA my 8th grade year and loved it ever since,” Turner said. “My family and my Ag teacher Dale Goodwin encouraged me to join.”

Showing livestock and serving as an officer are just some of what Turner said she loves about being in FFA.

“I love meeting new people and seeing what other chapters do for their communities,” Turner said. “I show livestock (goats) and I am an FFA officer. It is a great way of meeting new people and learning about leadership and how you can do it.”

FFA is not the only activity Turner is involved in. The junior also plays softball, and she has a new sport which she loves in wrestling.
“My biggest challenge would probably be learning new moves and putting in the work to get to state,” Turner said. “I love how we all support each other through thick and thin and how they will always be there for you when you need it.” This is Turner’s third season wrestling for THS and she hopes to graduate and attend college where she will work to become a pediatrician.
