Calumets Kingston Arnold – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Harvey Land Inc., The Mashaney Family, & The Dahlenburg Family

In Calumet, there’s a name that comes up any time someone talks about dedication, teamwork, or championship moments: Kingston Arnold. A senior who suits up for both the baseball and basketball teams, Arnold has built his reputation not just on talent, but on relentless consistency and leadership.

“Working to get better every day motivates me,” he said. “I want to be better today than I was yesterday.”

That steady mindset has carried him from a versatile sophomore who played every position on the baseball field to a proven leader behind the plate and on the hardwood as point guard. Whether he’s catching a fastball or setting up a play, Arnold’s focus is on doing whatever his team needs most.

“I’ll play wherever my team needs me,” he explained.

It’s that selflessness and competitiveness that have helped Calumet thrive. His father remains one of his biggest influences, instilling the value of hard work through example and encouragement.

“My dad pushes me to be better every day,” Arnold said. “He’s shown me what hard work can produce.”

Arnold’s journey has also been shaped by Coach Mayfield, a teacher and mentor who has taught him how to lead both with words and by action.

“Coach Mayfield has taught me how to be a leader on the court,” he said.

Among the highlights of his career, winning back-to-back state championships in both baseball and basketball stands above the rest, a rare double that reflects his commitment to excellence. Still, some victories mean more than trophies.

“I enjoy beating Fort Cobb-Broxton the most,” he admitted. “Beating them was the biggest hump we’ve had to overcome as a team.”

Arnold’s competitive edge is sharpened daily by his younger brother Talon, his favorite practice rival, and by teammates like Wyatt Cox, a third baseman whose quiet work ethic he deeply respects. Off the field, Arnold balances sports, school, family, and time with his girlfriend with the same sense of discipline that defines his play.

“Representing Calumet means everything,” he said. “No matter how old I get, I know this community and school will always have my back.”
