Waukomis’ Wyatt Overstreet – Presented by Dan Snyder Shelter Insurance

For Waukomis High School sophomore Wyatt Overstreet, football has been a way of life for as long as he can remember. Now a sophomore, Wyatt has been playing tackle football since the second grade after a few early seasons of flag football sparked by his mom signing him up.

“My mom put me on a football team,” Wyatt recalls. “That’s what started it all.”

One of his favorite memories on the field came just last year, during a hard-fought, rain-soaked matchup against Cherokee.

“Playing in the rain made it even more fun,” says Wyatt as he reflected on the memory.

When it comes to motivation, Wyatt credits his coaches for pushing him to be his best. “They’re the ones that keep me going,” he said.

He also values the bond he shares with his teammates, describing them as a group built on “support, trust, and having each other’s backs.”

Wyatt doesn’t have a go-to hype song before games but likes to listen to artists such as Ken Carson, Don Toliver, and Lil Tecca. After a big win, you can often find him celebrating with a post-game meal at Braum’s.

On the field, Wyatt looks up to Tom Brady for his dedication and leadership, while off the field, his biggest role models are his parents. His favorite subject in school is math, and when he’s not on the football field, he keeps busy playing basketball and baseball.

As for the future, Wyatt already has his eyes set on a career path.

“My plans after high school are to be a welder,” he shared.

With his dedication to the game and his commitment to his team, Wyatt Overstreet continues to make an impact at Waukomis High School both on and off the field.
