Dayson Cash

Watonga High School

Watonga High School’s Dayson Cash has deep roots in Oklahoma. His family was in Oklahoma before it became a state. Agriculture has been the backbone of the Cash family and Dayson is continuing that tradition.

“I was raised on a farm staked out in the Oklahoma Land run. My family on both sides have always been in agriculture so it has always been a core part of my life. My 8th grade year was my first official year in FFA, but I have grown up around the organization being the youngest of three siblings – both of which were active throughout their lives,” said Dayson.

His father is a farmer. His brother is a farmer. His Grandfather is a farmer. Agriculture is in the blood.

“I’ve been involved in agriculture my whole life as I grew up on a farm, so it was a natural progression for me to become involved in FFA. I show cattle and sheep. I’ve shown cattle since I was six years old and started showing sheep a few years ago. In addition to showing animals, I have actively been involved in leading livestock organizations at the local, state, and national level,” said Dayson.

Showing is not the only activity Dayson is involved in with his FFA chapter.

“I have been involved in a wide range of FFA activities – from leadership engagement, livestock showing, public speaking and holding local offices. Being involved in FFA gives me the opportunity to be more active in the community through community service events. It has built my confidence and helped guide my path forward,” said Dayson.

Currently serving as the Chapter President, Dayson participates in livestock showing, welding competitions, community service, and public speaking. He’s also a member of the football, wrestling, and track teams as well as student government, National Honor Society, and Oklahoma Honor Society. Dayson said anyone interested in FFA should give it a try.

“I would tell others what I wish I was told before I joined. Don’t be afraid. Step outside your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to learn from your mistakes,” said Dayson.

Now a senior, Dayson is looking forward to his last season of prep football.

“Football is more than just the physical sport – it’s about building a team and working together. One of my favorite things about football is building that camaraderie with my teammates and feeling the support of my community, and a close second is the adrenaline rush I get before every game,” said Dayson. “I look to my coaches for inspiration. Every coach I’ve had has made a positive impact on my character and made me a better athlete. Away from school I have a lot of positive role models from family members to organizational leaders that have had a positive impact.”

And if that wasn’t enough, the senior is working on his private pilot license and plans to attend college majoring in aviation.
