As Mavric Judd enters his senior year at Timberlake Public Schools, he does so with a deep sense of purpose and pride. A four-sport athlete, Judd showcases his talents year-round—playing running back and safety on the football field, contributing as a pitcher, catcher, shortstop, and center fielder in baseball, and competing on the basketball court and track. His athletic versatility is matched by his relentless drive to improve.
That motivation, Judd says, comes largely from his older brother. “He was an amazing athlete, but it was his work ethic off the field that pushed me the most,” Mavric shared. “He always made sure to be the hardest worker in any room, and that inspired me to do the same.” He also draws strength and guidance from his parents—his father, who helped shape his athletic journey, and his mother, who has always been there for him through the highs and lows.
Judd credits his sixth-grade teacher, Mrs. Masquiler, with making learning enjoyable and impactful, a memory that still stands out to him years later. That same love for improvement translates into his sports. “What it takes to be successful is the work you do when no one’s watching, running routes with my brother, throwing with my dad, or lifting with teammates,” he said. “That’s what builds character.”
Among his favorite memories are playing alongside his brother during his freshman year and reaching the 2024 football state championship. Beating longtime rival Cherokee always adds fuel to his competitive fire, especially with the intensity their large crowds bring. In practice, he enjoys going head-to-head with six-foot-six teammate Paxton Glenn for the challenge it brings, and he makes sure to shout out teammate Lars Gwinn for his hard work behind the scenes.
Off the field, Judd is active in FCA and FCCLA, and he finds motivation in following David Goggins online. Balancing school and sports isn’t easy, but for Mavric, it’s all worth it.
“Representing Timberlake and our community means everything,” he said. “No matter the sport or the distance, our community shows up—and I’m honored to represent them.”
