Q&A with Enid’s Cassidy Patterson – Presented by Rib Crib

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Cassidy: I am a sophomore at Enid High School. I am on the pom, softball, and track teams.

VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?

Cassidy: A highlight moment of my career was when I got to spend my freshman year playing with my sister when she was a senior. We got to share some sweet memories and I enjoyed playing with her until the last minute.

VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sports?

Cassidy: I have learned I need to have confidence and to put in the work to succeed. Putting in the work helps me gain a sense of pride and self-satisfaction.

VYPE: What motivates you?

Cassidy: Softball motivates me because I get to play for something bigger than myself. It’s a safe space for me to forget about everything else happening and just have fun with my friends.

VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most with in practice?

Cassidy: My best friends Andee Rader and Palmer Pasby because I know they are always up for a challenge. We all encourage and push each other to make ourselves the best we can be.

VYPE: Is there an opponent that you enjoy beating the most?

Cassidy: YES!!! It is always a good win beating the strong 6A schools because those games are always the most challenging. The winning feeling after playing extra innings is just incredible.

VYPE: What does it take to balance your school work and the activities you are involved in?

Cassidy: For me, It takes a lot of self discipline and time management. It can be so easy to just get on my phone and get distracted, but I put my academics first so I practice a lot of self control.  I spend a lot of time doing homework in the car on the way to lessons or on the bus on the way to games.

VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life?

Cassidy: Probably my middle school weight training teacher Jayden Dobbs or my previous track coach Squire Logan. They have both poured a lot of time into helping me become the athlete I am today, while being a constant person I can count on if I need anything.

VYPE: What clubs and campus activities are you involved with?

Cassidy: I am involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership, show choir, Student Council, the National Honor Society, Principles Leadership Council,  and AP and Honor classes.
