Q&A with Chisholm’s Kennedy Martin – Presented by Mike Hanley Attorney at Law – FT&H

VYPE: How long have you played softball? What first got you interested in the sport?

Kennedy: 11 years total; I have been playing travel ball since 8U and currently in 16U. I played softball since T-ball so I’ve always been interested in the sport, but what interested me to take it seriously was watching older girls play the sport and wanting to be like them.

VYPE: What grade are you in? What is your favorite subject in school?

Kennedy: I am a freshman. My favorite subject in school is English or history.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite memory in your time competing for your high school?

Kennedy: A favorite memory I have was definitely when our softball team had a big sleepover. We did karaoke, manhunt, and had the best time.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite opponent to compete against? If so, why?

Kennedy: A favorite opponent I like to face is Alva. I say this because Alva gives me the competition I like to face when playing.

VYPE: What do your teammates mean to you?

Kennedy: I tend to have a close bond with all my teammates, all the girls mean so much to me. When I first came in as a freshman I was definitely nervous about upperclassmen, but they have been so easy to bond with and have became some of my closet friends.

VYPE: Do you have any pre-game or post-game rituals?

Kennedy: For my pre-game ritual, I like to listen to music, stretch well, and pray before I play. After the game I like to watch my plate appearances to see what I can do better for my next at bat.

VYPE: Are you involved in any other sports or activities?

Kennedy: Basketball.

VYPE: Who do you look to as a role model and why?

Kennedy: Someone I look up to as a role model is definitely my cousin Katelyn Bezdicek. Katelyn is someone I always looked up to for softball. She pushes hard for everything she earns and inspires me to be a great player like she is, now at a college level.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

Kennedy: My plan after high school is to go play softball somewhere, and study Radiology or Physical Therapy.
