Under veteran head coach David Riesen, now beginning his 28th season guiding Pioneer Pleasant Vale fastpitch, the team returns a core built around six former freshmen and three former sophomores who logged heavy innings a year ago. That experience against quality competition has laid a strong foundation, and the group now looks to pair its athleticism with improved poise and consistency. While still a young roster, Pioneer Pleasant Vale expects a more polished, battle-tested team to take the field, aiming to turn last year’s success into an even deeper run this fall.
Freshman standout Caitlin Flores exemplifies the program’s blend of talent and versatility. Though only in her first year of high school ball, she can plug into any spot on the field, from the infield to the outfield, and even step into the circle when needed. Her athleticism and confident style of play resemble that of an upperclassman, giving Pioneer Pleasant Vale a flexible piece who can adapt seamlessly to game situations and fill holes as they arise.
Sophomore Khloe Cruz brings similar adaptability, already having proven herself as a multi-positional weapon. She can handle any position defensively, but shines behind the plate as an outstanding catcher while also offering reliable work at third base and shortstop. At the plate, her offensive impact is clear, Khloe hit over .400 as a freshman, providing a potent bat the lineup can lean on in key spots. Junior infielder Bailey Dotson adds leadership and continuity, having started for Pioneer Pleasant Vale in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
