Oklahoma Bible Academy’s Madisyn Mari – Slow Pitch Spotlight

Consistency sits at the center of Madisyn Mari’s mindset as she continues her freshman season at Oklahoma Bible Academy. “To stay consistent in every way,” Mari said, summing up her personal goal and the standard she holds herself to each time she steps on the field.

That approach fits well with a team that has remained locked in throughout the year.

Those connections matter as OBA works toward its postseason goals. “To go to state, work hard, stay consistent, and stay focused,” Mari said when asked about what the team is striving for and how they plan to get there. One area that has fueled that confidence has been offensive production. “Our hitting,” Mari said, pointing to what she believes is the team’s biggest strength.

Versatility is another asset Mari brings to the lineup. “Primarily shortstop and second, but anywhere the coach and team need me,” she said of her role on the field. From the infield, she focuses on details that can create opportunities. “Gaps in defense and how fast they are,” Mari said of what she looks for when reading opposing teams.

Preparation plays a big role in handling the demands of slow-pitch softball. “Stretch, warm up a lot, focus and block everything out,” she said when describing her pregame routine. Once the game begins, her mindset stays grounded. “To glorify God in every way,” Mari said.

Looking beyond individual performance, Mari already has a clear vision of how she hopes to be remembered. “To be an inspiration and good example to others,” she said of the legacy she wants to leave at OBA.

Some of her most memorable moments have come with recognition and championships. “Winning Cherokee Strip All Conference tournament for fast pitch and honored with Newcomer of the Year in the Cherokee Strip Conference,” Mari said.

Madisyn Mari is a ninth grader standing 5’1 who plays both school fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball while also competing for Gametime travel fast-pitch. Statistically, her fast-pitch season included a .410 average, 1.046 OPS, 12 doubles, 28 RBI, 35 runs, and just one strikeout. After high school, Mari plans “to play softball in college and becomes an ultrasound technician,” continuing to pair ambition with consistency on and off the field.
