Oklahoma Bible Academy’s Luke Lohman – Worship Team Spotlight – Presented by Oklahoma Bible Academy

For Luke Lohman, joining the Oklahoma Bible Academy worship team was less about stepping into the spotlight and more about stepping up to a calling. “I’ve enjoyed leading worship at my church since 10th grade, and when the need opened up at OBA this year, I volunteered,” Luke shared. His heart for worship and desire to serve led him to take on the responsibility with humility and purpose.

Since stepping into the role, Luke says the experience has deepened his faith in meaningful ways. “It’s definitely helped me get out of my comfort zone and trust God in every detail.” That trust continues to shape the way he approaches every rehearsal, chapel session, and opportunity to lead.

Building each week’s worship set alongside fellow student Karson Jenkins has been a major highlight for Luke. “My favorite part has been coordinating worship sets alongside Karson Jenkins and getting to build our team for each week,” he said. That collaboration not only strengthens their leadership but also brings a sense of unity to the entire worship team. “It’s fun to see how we collaborate and work together in everything—even if it’s just harmonies or changing the key of a song, everyone is flexible and supportive of one another.”

Luke believes that the most powerful worship moments come when the focus shifts off the stage and onto God. “Being able to hear the student body over myself when I lead a song is powerful, as I can hear that they’re involved and the focus is fully on God, not myself or my voice.”

While Luke primarily sings, he’s expanded his skills this year in a big way. “I sing but have recently learned guitar strictly for the OBA worship team!” And when it comes to choosing songs, he’s intentional. “I typically choose songs that go well together and that don’t sound too similar. Also, I like to pick songs that fit those leading’s voices.”

His advice to younger students considering joining the team is simple but heartfelt: “Try it! Once you get past the nerves, it is a really cool experience that gives God the glory for your talents and abilities.”
