Oklahoma Bible Academy’s Liam Berry – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Janzen GMC Truck Co.

Leadership isn’t measured in words but in action, and for Oklahoma Bible Academy senior Liam Berry, that action comes on the baseball diamond. The shortstop, catcher and pitcher has been instrumental in shaping one of the most successful baseball seasons in OBA history.
“Being the leader of the most successful baseball season OBA has ever had” is what Berry says stands out most to him from his athletic career. The achievement is more than just wins—it reflects the hard work, discipline and commitment he’s developed through years of dedication.
“Discipline,” Berry said simply when asked what his sport has taught him that makes him a better person. His one-word answer carries weight, reflecting the mental and spiritual focus that defines how he approaches both sports and life.
Berry is a dual-sport athlete who also plays football, but baseball has long been his passion. He credits a former teammate for inspiring his work ethic early on. “Elijah Chambers—he took me to hit every day my freshman year,” Berry said. That mentorship continues to impact the way Berry leads and encourages younger teammates now.
Faith also plays a central role in his athletic journey. “Jesus Christ because he came down when he didn’t have to and died for what he didn’t do,” Berry said when asked who inspires him most. “That inspires me to serve the people around me.”
That perspective guides him each time he steps on the field representing his school. “Knowing I’m not representing just a high school but also Christ,” Berry said of his favorite part about being an athlete for OBA.
Inside the classroom, Berry appreciates the teachers who make learning memorable. “Mr. Reese—he just makes boring stuff fun and he’s a good role model,” he said.
When it comes to advice, Berry keeps it simple: “Relax and go have fun.”
He looks up to professional outfielder Bryce Harper for his passion and intensity. “I like the way he played and how he carried himself,” Berry said.
