Head Coach: Jay Mendenhall
OUTLOOK
The Oklahoma Bible Academy Lady Trojans softball team is in the midst of an exciting 2024 season. Head coach Jay Mendenhall is optimistic about the blend of youth and experience on this year’s roster. “We will be a good mix of young and experienced,” Mendenhall said. “The more experienced team members have worked and battled injuries the past couple years to become battle-tested and competitive. The young players are a good complement position-wise to the older girls. Should be a great season!”
Lilyan Walden is has been the backbone of the Lady Trojans so far this season. “Lilyan led the team with a .500 batting average last year and only struck out one time,” Mendenhall highlighted. “She can play anywhere on the field and is a difference maker.” Jalynn McAlister is a freshman to keep an eye on this season. Despite recovering from a knee injury, her potential impact is significant. “Jalynn will make a big difference in the circle and at the plate when she is cleared to return!” Mendenhall said.
Madison Dorrell embodies the spirit of perseverance and leadership. “Madison loves the game and has worked through some lean years to lead the team as a senior,” said Mendenhall. The Lady Trojans’ 2023 record of 3-15 may not reflect their potential, but the team’s resilience and hard work set the stage for a promising turnaround. With a challenging schedule ahead, the OBA Lady Trojans are ready to showcase their growth and competitiveness this season. Coach Mendenhall and his team are eager to hit the field and make a significant impact, driven by their blend of experience and young talent.
