By Rose Hutchins

Maddee Brickman of Okeene Public Schools is a talented multisport athlete, competing in basketball, softball, track, and cross country. On the court, she’s a valuable point guard known for her speed and ability to run the offense. With her devotion and passion for athletics, Brickman is ready to make an impact and sink some shots in her junior season.

Brickman has been blessed with a supportive family and coaches who continually push her to be her best. Her parents have always believed in her and encouraged her to showcase her talents. Her older brother, Meade, has made a lasting impression, showing her what true hard work looks like and teaching her to never back down from a challenge. Brickman also credits Coach Allen, for his dedication to his players and his high standards, reminding them to not only build on strengths, but also focus on improving their weaknesses.

The Pioneer Lady Mustangs are Brickman’s favorite matchup because of the intensity they bring to the game.

“They always put up a good fight, and they never back down,” she shares.

Brickman credits her teammate, Kalystah York, for helping her stay sharp and ready for high energy, emotional games like these. The two consistently push and encourage each other, inspiring one another to give their best every time they get on the court.

Balancing life and sports takes strong communication for Brickman. She regularly checks in with her teachers to ensure her academics remain a top priority. Beyond athletics, she is an active member of FCA and FFA, serves on student council, acts as class secretary, and manages the high school football team. Brickman continues to prove that she’s mastered time management and commitment as a student athlete.

Brickman holds herself to high standards when representing her school, always aiming to make her community proud every time she steps on the court as a Whippet. Coming from an athletic, driven family, she understands the importance of uplifting others.

“Stay humble, never doubt your ability, and hard work will always beat talent,” she says.

Looking ahead, Brickman plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in animal science, with hopes of being accepted into the veterinary program. Her ultimate goal is to specialize in equine surgeries. She continues to set her sights high, confident that with determination and belief in herself, she can achieve anything.
