Kremlin-Hillsdale sophomore Chayley Nickeson is about as busy as a student-athlete can be. From sports to FFA, Nickeson is involved in as many sports, clubs and groups as her schedule can handle.
In the 8th grade, Nickeson made the decision to join the local FFA chapter thanks to some encouragement from a family member.
“I joined FFA in 8th grade because my family is very involved in agriculture,” Nickeson said. “My grandpa and father were very big into FFA, so I grew up listening to the stories and learning all about raising cattle.”
As a member of the FFA chapter, Nickeson said she is involved in many different activities.
“I enjoy going to all different competitions with my FFA teacher across the state,” Nickeson said. “I’m involved in showing livestock, public speaking, and I’m serving as Secretary for my FFA chapter.”
Nickeson shows Miniature Hereford cattle and has shown them since she was in the third grade. The sophomore said anyone interested in FFA should try it.
“My advice would be just to try everything that FFA has to offer,” said Nickeson.
Nickeson is a pitcher and outfielder for the softball team, a member of the basketball team and a cross country and track athlete. When her time at KHHS comes to an end, Nickeson said she would like to attend college at Oklahoma State University and major in finance with a minor in accounting.
