The Kingfisher Lady Yellowjackets soccer team is looking to build off of last season. Head coach Aniessa Edsall’s squad has a good number of underclassmen that will see a lot of playing time this season, but she looks for them to grow and improve as the season progresses.
“We’re made up of a lot of young players, but have several that have experience playing varsity minutes,” Edsall said. “The experience will help us start the year with a little more composure. We started a lot of freshmen on our team last season, so having one year under their belts will help with decision making and patience. Our young age will give us some spark and energy when we need it most.”
Ariana Rivera will be a leader on this year’s squad. Her quickness and agility allows her to get through tight pockets and create chances for the team. She does a great job of helping others with their skills or coaching them up. Another player that will be key this season is Molly Weber. She has really put in the work over the summer and has improved in her quickness, speed, and ball control. She’s got a vision for the field and gives 100% every moment. She’s a quiet leader through her effort and kindness and cool composure in all moments.
Ryann Shue is relentless in her effort. She has worked incredibly hard outside of practice to polish her skills. Even when she’s tired, she continues to give everything she has. Her work ethic has challenged her teammates as they notice it every single day. Along with being a great teammate, Natalie Garrett is also a great student. She is student body president and the chairman of S.T.I.N.G.(Students Thriving in Neighborly Goodness). The STING organization is to help a member of the community raise money for medical costs. Natalie plans and organizes events throughout the year to raise as much money as they can to help the families. Her work ethic and desire to give back to her community is admirable and encouraging. She is continuously seeking to make herself better as well as those around her.
