Standing at 5’11 and still growing, Ela “Weezy” Hartman is already making moves on the basketball court. As a sophomore at Kingfisher High School, Hartman played a pivotal role in her team’s run to the state finals last year. This season, she’s set to be a starter, ready to take on an even bigger leadership role for the Lady Jackets.
Hartman’s journey with basketball began in kindergarten when she joined the KidStyle Hoops league at her church. Since then, her skill and love for basketball has only grown stronger, playing with Team Oklahoma 15U on the AAU circuit. Her team recently had an impressive showing at the Midwest Summer Classic Tournament in Hamilton, Ohio, where they made it to the Power 24 Finale. Hartman was named Honorable Mention for her standout performance, a well-deserved recognition of her talent.
In addition to her AAU success, Hartman has been turning heads at a number of prestigious showcase events. In September, she earned the “Speed Queen” title at The Last Run in Bentonville, AR, and was recognized as a top performer at the EXPO Oklahoma Prep Hoops event in Edmond. She also stood out at both the I-35 Showcase and the Team Oklahoma Showcase, further cementing her status as one of Oklahoma’s top young players.
Off the court, Hartman excels academically with a 4.0 GPA, balancing her athletic commitments with her studies. She’s also a talented track athlete, finishing fourth in high jump and eighth in long jump at the Class 4A state meet as a freshman. Hartman credits her teammates for motivating her to be her best, saying, “They challenge and encourage me to push myself every day.”
Hartman’s goals extend far beyond high school basketball. With an invitation to the NBA Chris Paul (CP3) Rising Stars National Camp and an offer from Newman University’s women’s basketball program, Hartman is well on her way to achieving her dreams of playing college basketball.
With her combination of athleticism, work ethic, and leadership, Hartman is a name to watch as she continues to rise in the world of basketball.
