Hennessey’s Kason Scruggs – Presented by Choate Oilfield Services

There are people in each of our lives that make an impact on us and help shape us into the person we will become. For some, these influences can be an actor, professional athlete, or someone famous. But for Kason Scruggs, the people that have impacted him the most are a little closer to home.

“The biggest influences for me are my family and friends,” Kason said. “Especially my dad and my friend Trevin. They always push me to get better and to be a better person.”

Kason is a freshman at Hennessey High School. He is a member of the school’s wrestling and baseball teams. Wearing the Eagles uniform when he competes is someone that Scruggs is proud to be able to do and it is not something that he takes lightly.

“It means a lot to be able to represent my school when I play,” he said. “I hope that I can make a name for my school.”

As an athlete, Kason works hard so that he is at his best when it comes time to compete. He also keeps goals in his mind of what he wants to achieve in order to help himself stay focused.

“It has taken practice and working with the right people to get where I am,” he said. “I keep myself motivated by always wanting to get better and wanting to win state. I enjoy working with my teammates in practice. Rogan and Westin are two guys I like to work with the most because they push me to always get better.”

Whether it is on the baseball field or the wrestling mat, Kason and his teammates are ready to compete against whoever is on the schedule. And while he always wants to win, Scruggs says that some wins are a little sweeter.
“There is not a specific team that I like to beat,” he said. “But I like to beat those that are at a higher level than most.”

As a student athlete, along with the work and preparation for his sports, Scruggs also has to work hard in the classroom in order to be able to compete. He says that balancing school work and athletics is simple.

“To balance both, I just get my work done in class.”
