Garber’s Baylee Wessels – Presented by Farm Credit Western Oklahoma

A big sister will pave the way for the younger siblings in school and activities outside of school. For Garber High School’s Baylee Wessels, her big sister was more than an example of what to do, she blazed a path for Baylee to follow.

“My sister Brooke encouraged me because she was very active in the FFA,” Wessels said. “I would have to say my sister was a big influence because I have watched her and looked up to her my whole life through everything. She has always encouraged me to do the best in everything that I have been involved in and always been there for me.”

Now a junior in high school, Wessels joined FFA when she entered the eighth grade. Meeting new people and attending conventions are just a couple of the activities Wessels said she has enjoyed as a member of the Garber chapter.

“I enjoy going to leadership conferences, state convention, and meeting new people,” Wessels said. “I show livestock, livestock judging and CDE’s. I show heifers and steers.”

Also a member of the softball, basketball and track teams, Wessels finds the time to be a member of National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Wessels said anyone interested in FFA should give it a try.

“I totally recommend you will build leadership skills and build friendships you will have for the rest of your life,” said Wessels.
Once her time at GHS comes to an end, Wessels said she plans to attend Oklahoma State University and pursue a degree in Ag Business, but for now she is happy making memories with her teammates like when they won district in softball her freshman season for the first time in 15 years.
