Ethan Ritchie, a senior at Enid High School, has built his soccer career on consistency, discipline, and a deep sense of pride in representing his team and community. As a center back and outside back, he serves as a reliable presence on the field, anchoring the defense and helping guide his team through high-pressure moments.
“My parents and teammates are what motivate me.”
That support system has fueled Ritchie’s growth over the years, but one figure in particular has helped shape his development as a player.
“My club coach, Tom Sedgwick, always pushes me to become better in every game and practice.”
Through that guidance, Ritchie has learned that success doesn’t come easily. It requires a commitment to constant improvement, both physically and mentally.
“It has taken lots of practice and dedication to improving my technical and tactical ability on and off the ball.”
His hard work has led to memorable moments, including one standout experience that combined personal recognition with team success.
“The highlight of my career so far is winning homecoming king along with winning the game this year.”
Ritchie thrives in competition, especially when facing familiar rivals.
“Beating Ponca City and Stillwater is always great because they are our rivals.”
In practice, he values the variety of challenges his teammates bring, recognizing that each player contributes to his development in different ways.
“I enjoy working against all of my teammates because they all challenge me in different ways.”
That team-first mindset extends beyond the field, as Ritchie emphasizes the strong bond shared among his teammates. “We all have a strong bond and great chemistry.”
Outside of soccer, he stays involved in school activities, including show choir, balancing his commitments through organization and discipline.
“It takes being really organized to balance school, practice, and everything else.”
As he looks ahead, Ritchie remains grounded in where he comes from, using it as motivation to push even further.
“Knowing I come from a town where not many people have played soccer at the next level makes me want to work harder.”
With that mindset, he continues to represent Enid with pride.
