Enid High School junior Colt Newman is a multisport athlete, playing football and being a powerlifter, and is involved with track and field for the Enid High School Plainsmen. A veteran football player, Colt plays the position of defensive end, and has been a football player for 10 years. Colt has been a powerlifter for 2 years, and has been involved in track and field for 5 years.
Colt is proud to represent his school and community every time he plays sports for the Enid Plainsmen. Colt accounted, “It means a lot when I get the opportunity to play for my school and community. It means that I have a chance to positively represent my town and put a smile on people’s faces.”
Colt’s faith plays an important part in his life. Colt stated, “My biggest motivation in life is my faith is God, he keeps me going and is who I credit all of my achievements in life to. He will always be there for me when no other person or things will.”
In regards to a role model for Colt, he elaborated, “Maxx Crosby is my biggest influence and role model because he is an incredible defensive end who plays just like me and is who I model my game after.”
As far as to what has made Colt a success in sports, Colt stated, “It has taken not only dedication and hard work to my sports, when I practice with my team, but also off the field- the work I put in working out daily and training on my own time to be successful.”
Many memories are made in a student athlete’s career. Colt reminisced upon a memory that stands out the most. “The highlight moment of my career was when I got my first varsity sack my sophomore year.”
After graduating from high school, Colt has ambitions to pursue higher education and to also earn a Juris Doctorate in law. Colt stated, “After I graduate high school, I want to attend The University of California – Berkeley, and eventually attend law school to become a patent attorney.”
